It's 10:00 a.m. on a beautiful fresh morning in Nashville. I looked at the clock in my car and I'm just on time . I had spent a couple of hours at Mark\'s fan club party the night before but I had not spent any one on one time with him yet. I was ready for a nice relaxing interview in the country. I should be at Mark Newland's ranch by
10:30 a.m.
Mark has been nominated as one of cmtcountrymusictoday.com\'s most sexy artists of the year, and I have been asked to meet with him and come up with the story that will describe why he was nominated. Mark Newland was introduced and exploded on the Nashville circuit in 2004. He was featured in five of the the 12 issue\'s of Country Music Today. His record company, StarGazer Records, opened the doors on Music Row and placed Mark right in Nashville\'s face.
Mark backed independent record company, StarGazer, with his own money. It was a huge risk but as you can see, someone knows what they are doing. If you drive down Music Row you just can\'t miss Mark. He has the second largest promotional banner in town, next to Gretchen Wilson. Mark\'s name was coming up everywhere. In October of 2004, Nashville\'s Music Guide Magazine honored Mark with a seven star rating. Joe Diffie\'s new CD was also rated at a seven star rating. Who was this guy that didn\'t have a # 1hit song yet, in competition with the big boys of Music City? It was my job to find out how he was stealing the hearts of our female fans.
10:30 a.m.
When I met Mark Newland, he was dressed in blue jeans, a white cowboy shirt, and some really neat looking boots with a four xxxxxx beaver black Stetson cowboy hat. He had eyes that I knew could see right through me and a smile that could make any one woman just melt. It was clear in a Nashville second why cmtcountrymusictoday had nominated Mark as one of country music's new sexiest artists of the year. This man simply oozes charisma.
He breezes into his barn on a beautiful black horse named Baby Doll and ties her to a post as he pat\'s the dirt off of his wrangler pants. \"Let\'s go have some tea,\" he says with a pant in his voice. As we sat down on the front deck of his new ranch, we started to get acquainted and Mark spies a copy of Country Music Today Magazine I had in my hand. \"I Love Magazines!" he proclaims with a big grin before burying his face in it. A few seconds later there was that smile again as he spots his full page promotion on the third page of the issue. \"Pretty cool,\" he utters with his California cowboy attitude.
11:00 am
Mark had planned and arranged for us to have brunch at the ranch and I had been waiting all day to taste his self-proclaimed "Maximus Steak". So as we walked up the steps to the front door, I could see a fantastic hand-carved oak door that displayed a heart with a lighting bolt shooting through it. Under the heart it read Welcome Home.
\"This door has meaning,\" he explained. \"You see, when the door is opened it only reveals half of the heart and when it's closed it displays a full complete heart safe and happy at home.\" How romantic, I thought.
Mark had a hot fire on the grill already blazing away and a table set for two with fresh flowers, a red and white checkered country table. I was just a bit surprised to find there was not a dish in sight other than the dish used to cook with. \"We are having a Louisiana style cook out today,\" Mark explained. He sat a piece of newspaper in front of me, opened a pot sitting on the grill and dished out a pile of crawfish, lobster tails, catfish, potatoes and corn right on the table. Then he handed me a "Maximus Steak" on a hot steel plate. It was prepared just the way I like him, it, my steak!!!!
As the gentelman he is, he graciously pulls my chair so that I may sit down. I am telling you, the whole world seems to just go away but him and I. As I sat and listened to him talk with one of the ranch employees, I could tell I was with a very special person and as I was told, Mark displays so many fine qualities that I just couldn't believe this man was not married. I attended one of Mark\'s concerts with Jamie O\'Neill in Nashville last September 2004. The person I saw on stage that night was not the same man I was spending my afternoon with. I was intrigued and more interested in finding who this hunk of a guy was off the stage.

After brunch, Mark introduced me to his four dogs Blitz, Spike, Harley and Davidson. And we can\'t forget his new baby kitty cat named Alan Jackson. As we walked down a small dirt road to his private pond, I was taken by the beauty of the surrounding Nashville countryside. The pond was set in the back of the house, inhabited with lily pads and ducks that fly in and play in the warm water every evening. He explains that he has stocked the pond with bass and catfish so that he can always come home with a fresh catch. When he introduced me to his ducks named Romeo and Juliet, it was then I saw a sensitive side of Mark. I knew this was the story I wanted to share with our readers.

After speaking with Mark for a while I could tell that he is a true entertainer with the spirit and drive of two men put together. He seemed to be very down to earth with a vision and direction always in mind. He's calm, as attractive as they come \"wheeeoo!\", peaceful, sensitive and yet strong. He showed great character and I felt a sincere sense of security while around him.
I asked Mark what was most special to him in his life. He invited me into the house where he showed me pictures placed on his fireplace mantel. These are my best friends, the people that I love he explains with a smile.

I couldn't help thinking, My Lord, where has this man been all of my life? Oh girls, this man is available, at least for one day. If you would like to spend an afternoon with Mark, you can!
